Obituary

Doris Evelyn Kracke was born on June 12, 1933, in Winkler, Kansas, to Arthur Otto and Fern (Mueller) Popp. As a young girl she moved to various communities in Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma, where her father served as pastor of the Lutheran Church. She lived in Colorado for a while before moving to Leola, South Dakota. While living there she attended Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where she received her degree and became a registered nurse in 1970. In 1984 she moved to Blackwell and worked as a registered nurse at the Blackwell Regional Hospital until her retirement in the late 1990's. Following retirement she continued working at the hospital on a part-time basis. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's League. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bowling, traveling, swimming and watching sporting activities.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah O'Kelley of Brush, Colorado, and Cheryl Lindeman and husband James of Marshall, Minnesota; two sons, Keith Kracke and wife Carol of Weldona, Colorado, and Curtis Kracke and wife Darla of Fargo, North Dakota; a sister, Gloria Kelle of Blackwell; a brother, Roger Popp and wife Nancy of Springfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Pudwill and wife Laura, Robert O'Kelley, Kristina Lindeman, Ryan Lindeman, Kadin Kracke, Jordan Kracke and Sage Kracke; and three great grandchildren, Emily, Madeline and Noah Pudwill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Loebs; and a grandson, Kevin O'Kelley.

Local services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 14th, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Steven Stoll officiating.

Services are also scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 18th, in the Lutheran Church in Leola, South Dakota, with the Rev. Nathan Henschen officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Mound Cemetery in Leola.

Honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.

The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
