Dora Jaunita Shroff Dunning was baorn on May 15, 1918, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She took her final breath on EARTH and her first breath in HEAVEN on June 24, 2008, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 90 years. Dora graduated from Blackwell High School in 1936. She married Paris Delmer Dunning on June 3, 1936, and they spent their blessed life together until his death in 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Myrtle Shroff; her sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice Mildred and Ted Bullock; and two sons-in-law, Ted J. Pierce and Danny K. Moore.
Those who cherish her memory are her daughter, Claudiatte Jane Thomas and husband James of McKinney, Texas; a son, Douglas Delmer Dunning and wife Suzanne of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Letitia Pierce Andrade and husband Alberto of McKinney, Texas, Paris Aziz Dunning and wife Anna of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dora Mae Dunning Thompson and husband Seth of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Adele Jane Dunning Schardt and husband Tim of Littleton, Colorado, and Lena Maureen Dunning of Washington, D.C. She was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Krystn Alberto Andrade Pierce and Robin Aziz Odegaard-Dunning. She is also survived by a niece, Janice Bradford and husband Bill of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; a nephew, Rev. Ronald Bullock and wife Karla of Aurora, Colorado; their families, Brent and Joey Bradford of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Karla Bullock of Dallas, Texas, Brook and Mary Catherine Bullock and family, Derrick and Stephanie Herrington all of Oklahoma City and Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Dora always said that God made something beautiful of her life, and that was her message to others. She chose to surround herself with flowers as a designer for local florists. Dora and Delmer shared their love of the mountains and the outdoors with their family and friends from 1956 through 1988 at their cabin in Red River, New Mexico. She lived what she believed, and she and Delmer were always ready to lend helping hands at the First Christian Church and in the community. She and Delmer knew "God always provided more than enough."
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 27th, in the Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell, Oklahoma, with the family of Dora Dunning officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a memorial donation be made to Hillcrest Nursing Staff and Activities or Image Hospice of Blackwell in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
