L. G. Stanley "Dick" Campbell of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday, July 16, 2010, in Willow Haven Nursing Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years.
L. G. Stanley "Dick" Campbell was born on September 3, 1931, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Nat and Norma Jean (Soustone) Campbell. At a young age Dick moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma where he attended Blackwell Public Schools. During high school, he played football and placed third in the Oklahoma state wrestling tournament his senior year. When he was younger Dick also enjoyed steer wrestling. He married Betty Wirtz on December 9, 1961, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and to this marriage they had two children. Dick worked on the furnace at the Blackwell Zinc Company before working in the custodial department at the Blackwell city warehouse until his retirement. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in rodeos. Dick was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell.
Dick is survived by his wife, Betty Campbell, of the home, one daughter, Sherry Ann Armstrong and husband Rick of Wynndotte, Oklahoma; one son, Dick H. Campbell and companion Sherry of Blackwell, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Kelbi Campbell, Shelly Armstrong and Timothy Armstrong; one sister, Norma Jean Lewis; one brother, John R. Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack Campbell; and three sisters, Anna Bunch, Opal Bowers and Pauline Fields.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2010, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with Rev. Tom Ramsey of the First Lutheran Church in Ponca City officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
Honorary Casketbearers will be the Blackwell City Warehouse Workers.
