Dewey Cecilia Overholt-Rector of Nardin, Oklahoma, died Sunday, November 15, 2009, in the Ponca City Nursing Home in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years.
Dewey Cecilia Overholt-Rector was born on June 18, 1922, in Stigler, Oklahoma, to Lawrence and Montie (Madison) Ward. As an infant she moved with her family to Blackwell, Oklahoma, where she grew up and attended Blackwell Public Schools. She married James R. Overholt on August 5, 1940, in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell until 1968 when they moved to Nardin to make their home and continued to serve her family as a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death on May 19, 1993, and she continued to make Nardin her home. She married Raymond Rector in 1994 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and they settled in Nardin. In the summer of 2009 she moved to Ponca City to make her home. She attended Christ's Church in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and enjoyed sewing and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Rector of Nardin, Oklahoma; two daughters, Barbara Hubbard of Kingwood, Texas, and Fern Congram of Katy, Texas; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Jordan of Christ's Church in Newkirk officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
