Delnah Dolores Stafford of Guthrie, Oklahoma, died December 26, 2011, at her residence in Guthrie at the age of 75 years.
Delnah Dolores Stafford was born on January 23, 1936, near Madill, Oklahoma, to Ancel and Leona (Lemons) James. As a young girl she moved with her family to Blackwell where she attended Blackwell Public Schools. She married Henry Leon Stafford of Blackwell on July 24, 1953, and they made their home in Blackwell until she graduated from Blackwell High School in 1954. Following her education she joined Henry while he served in the United States Army. She had an appreciation for the world by accompanying her husband and traveling to Lawton, Germany, Houston, San Antonio, Hawaii and Denver. In 1977 they made their home near Guthrie, Oklahoma. Delnah was a loving wife and mother and a source of comfort for her parents and siblings. She also served as a caring friend for her extended family of in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins. She survived leukemia in 1976 against extreme odds and was inspirational in her approach to life. She was a very spiritual person, enjoyed Elvis, shopping, football and loved being with her family. She would also visit patients, used homeopathic remedies and told her family what to use for illnesses. She also enjoyed sightseeing and taking pictures of her family.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Henry Leon Stafford of Guthrie; a son, Richard Stafford and wife Elizabeth of Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Suzanne Stanley of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two sisters, Linda Collins of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Goldia Clonts of Blackwell; five grandchildren, Jason Stafford and wife Katie of Lincoln, Nebraska, Allison Stadler and husband Matt of Thornton, Colorado, Megan Snyder and husband Joshua of Wichita, Kansas, Justin Stanley of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Rhiannon Stanley of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and three great grandchildren, Lillian Stafford of Lincoln, Nebraska, Benjamin Stadler, of Thornton, Colorado, and Samuel Stadler, of Thornton, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Michael James.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Jason Stafford, Matt Standler, Justin Stanley, Josh Snyder, Kasey Collins and John Franz.
A memorial has been in established in her honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for cancer research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
