Deborah Sue "Debbie" Lessert of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, July 9, 2009, at her home in Blackwell at the age of 61 years.
Debbie Lessert was born on February 20, 1948, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Harold Logan and Wilma Jean (Fields) Skelton. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools graduating from Blackwell High School in 1966. She then furthered her education by attending Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. After receiving an associate of arts degree she continued her education at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. She married Patrick W. Lessert on June 7, 1970, in Blackwell and they settled in Maryland and Maine while her husband was serving in the United States Navy. Following his discharge in 1970 they moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, where she worked for Conoco. In 1977 they moved to Blackwell and continued working for Conoco retiring in 2002 as a graphics supervisor. She worked as a Blackwell Regional Hospital volunteer and enjoyed handcrafts especially crocheting. The love of her life was her family and watching her grandchildren compete in various athletic events.
She is survived by her husband, Pat Lessert of Blackwell, Oklahoma; her mother, Jean Skelton of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a daughter, Katy Carnes and husband Jeff of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a son, Chad Lessert and wife Sherry of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a sister, Vicki Carrington of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Clayton and Braydon Lessert of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Hannah, Logan and Miya Carnes of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and special friend, Nita LaBlue of Moore, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 13th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Ed Brown of Del City, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in the Washunga Cemetery in Newkirk, Oklahoma.
Casketbearers will be Bob Burk, Barry Burk, Dan LaBlue, Terry LaBlue Jr., Stan Glenny and Larry Tripp. Honorary casketbearers will be Frank Lessert, Sam Lessert, Mike Lessert and Jim Lessert.
