Obituary

Dale Leon Wooderson left this world to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 25, 2022. Dale was born November 11, 1932, in the home to Lawrence and Laura (Smith) Wooderson in Renfrow, Oklahoma. His family moved north of Blackwell where he spent his days of youth learning to farm and raise cattle. He graduated from Blackwell High School where he was active in Ag activities and football. He went on to Oklahoma A & M (OSU) where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and the Meat and Livestock Judging Teams.

He married Eva Ann Reinking while in college and graduated with a degree in Animal Husbandry in 1955. While in college he joined ROTC and later served at Ft. Sill as a commissioned officer in the United States Army. Wooderson and his family returned to Kay County and began their farming and ranching career, settling southwest of Blackwell. Dale became a DeKalb seed dealer in 1991, which is now known as Wooderson Seed. He always exemplified and taught a strong work ethic to his family, while recognizing blessings from God and stressing to always be happy in your work.

Dale was know as an outgoing "people person" and was involved in the Blackwell community, serving on the Blackwell School Board for ten years, Security Bank and Trust Board for twenty years, and the sale barn board along with various other community involvement.

Dale received the Kay County Oklahoma Outstanding Conservation District Cooperator in 2009 and was also inducted into the Blackwell Public School Foundation Hall of Fame in 2012.

A longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell, he served  in various leadership capacities. When leading his family, he always stressed the importance of God and church.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Naomi Lucas; his brothers, Verle and Harold Wooderson; and infant brothers, Max and Merle.

His wife, Eva, survived him three days. He is survived by his son, Steve Wooderson and wife Beverly of Blackwell; two daughters, Cheryl Finch and husband James of Oklahoma City, and Dana Terry and husband Garland of Chickasha. Dale and Eva have seven grandchildren, Kyle Wooderson and wife Trisha of Grove, Drew Wooderson of Blackwell, Laura Sappenfield and husband Andrew of Blackwell, Alissa Fleming and husband William of Edmond, Tyler Finch and wife Bethany of Edmond, Zane Terry and wife Sierra and Jesse Terry all of Chickasha. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5 th at First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Daniel Rickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery with military rites performed by the United States Army.
