Dale Clinton White of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday morning, November 28, 2008, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 77 years.
Dale Clinton White was born on March 17, 1931, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, to Lawrence Emory and Viola (Dean) White. He grew up in Kingfisher graduating from Kingfisher High School in 1950. Following his education he entered the United States Navy on January 5, 1951, serving aboard the U.S.S. O'Brien during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on November 4, 1954. Following his discharge he moved to Blackwell in September of 1955 and began working as a sub-contractor for Eldorado Moore in the construction business. He married Janette Dunlap on December 6, 1957, in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell. On July 20, 1959, he began working for the City of Blackwell and retired from maintenance as department head on May 31, 1993. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell. He also held membership in the American Legion and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Janette White of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a son, Clinton White and wife Lisa of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a brother, Glenn White of La Mesa, California; and two grandchildren, Andrea Weiland and husband Grant of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Shayla White of Blackwell, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Emory and Robert White; and four sisters, Inez Smith, Thelma Musick, Edna English and Gladys West.
Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 2nd in the First Christian Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery with military rites performed by the American Legion and V. F. W.
Serving as casketbearers will be Darrell Steelmon, Mark Steelmon, Greg Sixkiller, Bob Lively, Glenn Terrell and Floyd Buesing. Honorary casketbearers will be Ralph Smith, Hank Gunn and Wayne Medley.
A memorial has been established at the First Christian Church in Blackwell in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
