Obituary

Edna Mae "Connie" Weigle of Blackwell, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday morning, December 19, 2011, at the age of 90 years.

Connie Weigle was born on January 10, 1921, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Thearl Amziah and Winnifred Estelle (Briggs) Bradford. She grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1938. She furthered her education attending University Preparatory School (Northern Oklahoma College) in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. On October 6, 1940, she married Harold Emerson Weigle in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell in a double ring ceremony with her sister, Cecelia and Max Payne. For many years Harold and Connie owned and operated Weigle's Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Blackwell. Her husband preceded her in death on August 9, 2006, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. Connie taught piano and helped in the agency office in the earlier years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell where she was a fifty-four year choir member, served twenty years as a member of the worship committee and was a member of the United Methodist Women's executive board. She also served as past president of the Blackwell Book Review and held membership and offices in Child Study Club, Blackwell Story Tellers, Delphi Club and Green Thumb Garden Club. She was a former member of the Mothers Singers and the Selectones.

She is survived by her son, Terry Weigle and wife Mary of Ponca City; her daughter, Pam Cooper and husband Denis of Irving, Texas; two sisters, Cecelia Payne of Blackwell and Idalene Childs of Springfield, Oregon; grandchildren, Amy Cox of Texas, Brad LaRue and wife Jennifer of Houston, Texas, Laura Deibert and husband Jimmie of Bixby, Oklahoma, Melinda Dunn and husband Eric of Frisco, Texas, Julie Adams and husband Brandon of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Becky Poet and husband Craig of Ponca City, Jacob Harris of Atlanta, Georgia, Kevin Cooper and wife Jennifer of Keller, Texas, and Kelly Burrier and husband Randal of Keller, Texas; and great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Mitchell and Ethan Cox, Louis LaRue, Andrew and Joshua Deibert, Makaya, Brett and Blake Dunn, Caleb Adams, and Charlie and Harrison Poet.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 22nd in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Pam Cottrill of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Honorary casketbearers will be her grandsons, Brad LaRue, Jimmie Deibert, Eric Dunn, Brandon Adams, Craig Poet and Jacob Harris.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
