Christopher "Troy"
Aebi
Nov 7, 1970 — Oct 12, 2026
Ponca City
Christopher “Troy” Aebi was born on November 7, 1970, to Robert “Bob” Aebi and Kathryn Aebi (Huffman) in Woodward, Oklahoma. As a youth, Troy participated in Boy Scouts, and he worked for various farmers in his community. He also happily helped his grandparents with labor and farm tasks. Troy graduated from Medford High School in 1989 and went on to obtain a bachelor’s and master’s degree at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
As a young adult, Troy completed CLEET (Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training) and served as a volunteer deputy for the Woods County Sheriff’s Department. Troy began working for the State of Oklahoma in August 1996, where he positively influenced numerous families and individuals over the years. Most of Troy’s career was served in leadership/management positions, but no task was too small for him. Once he cleaned the exterior of his office building after learning it had been egged, and he routinely volunteered for tasks he could have easily delegated. Troy was kind to everybody; his stewardship to others mirrored Biblical instruction. Troy did not seek attention for his good deeds and he went about everything quietly and unassuming. He could always be trusted to do the right thing, and his ability to ignore negativity and focus on something positive was unmatched.
Troy was the backbone of his family. He continually utilized his time and skills to ensure his family’s needs were met, and he rarely drove through Medford without checking on one of them. Troy had many talents, and he enjoyed sharing his abilities in order to help others. He gave willingly of his own resources to anyone in need. Family, friends, coworkers, and strangers all benefitted from the caring and kind nature of Troy.
Outside of his family and career, Troy’s passion was hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed training and hunting with his various dogs over the years. It was important to Troy to respect the land and the animals he pursued. He exposed his nieces and nephews to hunting, boating, 4-wheeling, kayaking, and concerts, and they enjoyed many fun times with their “funcle” (fun uncle). Troy taught his nieces how to drive and how to properly back a trailer, which has served them well. Each one has special memories with Troy because he actively participated in their lives.
On January 2, 2026, Troy married Deanna “Dee” Linder on a beautiful winter day by the lake. They were blessed to enjoy many adventures together, and Troy felt tremendous joy taking care of Dee and sharing his passion for the outdoors with her.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Dee; siblings Shelly (Aebi) Haskins and her husband, Rod, Kateena (Aebi) Roberts and her husband Frank, and Kimberly (Aebi) Matthews and her husband Steve; Troy is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Abbie and her husband Quincy; their children Kaden and Nova, Raegan, Hadley, Briana, Jaden, Jaret; and Dee’s niece and nephew, Madison and Aiden; Troy is also survived by numerous relatives who cared for him deeply.
A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider doing something selfless to meet the needs of another in Troy’s honor. Additionally, a memorial can be made in Troy’s name at Roberts and Son Funeral Home in Blackwell, Oklahoma. All contributions will meet the needs of foster children during Christmas.
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
2 Corinthians 5:7-8 For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
