The family moved to Fairbury, Nebraska where Chris started grade school. Later, they moved to Fremont, Nebraska where Chris had a small part in a movie. In 1943, they moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma where he graduated from Blackwell High School in 1952. Chris was a hard worker beginning at a young age when he was a paperboy, and later working for the Blackwell Print Shop where he trained to set type and prepare print jobs. Chris received training in the United States Army in computers, and after discharge spent thirty years working in the computer room at Continental Oil Company.

While in the service, Chris was stationed at Heidelberg, Germany. During that time, Chris visited the Vatican and was present when Pope Pious XII and President Truman walked by the visitors.

He served as a volunteer sheriff deputy and played Santa Claus for many years. Chris was a faithful Catholic and served as an altar boy. Chris saw to the day to day care of his mother in her later years.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Patty Mauck. He is survived by his sister, Peggy Dooley; and several nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Blackwell Cemetery with Father Carson from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ponca City officiating.
