Obituary

Cathryn Irene Tiemann died peacefully in her sleep January 12, 2013, at the age of 92 years. Cathryn was born on May 17, 1920, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, to Marsh and Edna (Switzer) Thomas. She grew up on farms in the Tonkawa and Braman area. She married Carl F. Tiemann on May 14, 1939, in Braman settling on a farm three and a half miles east of Blackwell. They were married 51 years and raised three children, Carolyn S. (Tiemann) Gorath, Carl R. Tiemann and Chuck Tiemann.

Cathryn knew her Lord and Savior, enjoying church activities with friends and family. In her later years she enjoyed quilting with several groups in the Blackwell area. Cathryn resided in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home for the last nine years. Family and neighbors remember countless dinners and card parties at the Tiemann's. Cathryn loved cooking to please others. Her grandchildren have countless fond memories of her baking cookies, especially no bake cookies. As teenagers, they each received their own canister at Christmastime. Her great enjoyment came from visits by family members, nieces, nephews, church members, and neighbors.

She is survived by her sons, Carl R. Tiemann and wife Carole of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Chuck Tiemann and wife Terri of Ardmore, Alabama; seven grandchildren, John Gorath and Cathy Anderson of Perry, Oklahoma, Jason Tiemann and Chris Tiemann of Flower Mound, Texas, Kendall Tiemann, Kristin Andrews, and Kim Andrews of Ardmore, Alabama; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Thomas and wife Leona of Ponca City; and her many nieces and nephews that she truly enjoyed and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a daughter, Carolyn; her parents; and two sisters.

The family wishes to give many thanks to the ministers and lay people of the area churches and her neighbors that faithfully visited her, Melvin and Naomi Kahle who watched her daily. A special thanks go to the nurses and staff at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home for their dedicated care and attention to her needs.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., January 16th in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with Rev. Ned Moerbe of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
