Obituary

Carol Jean Husted of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday evening, July 11, 2013, in the Ponca City Medical Center at the age of 71 years.

Carol Jean Husted was born on July 24, 1941, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Hugh F. and Nellie Leora (Epperly) Inmon. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1959. On July 24, 1959, she married Robert Glen Husted and they settled in Blackwell to raise their family. She served her family as a homemaker until her children were teenagers at which time she began working for the Southwest Cupid Corporation as an examiner for seven years. She then began working for the Blackwell Public Schools with the school lunch program. After nine years of service she retired and in 1996 she began working as an evening receptionist for Roberts and Son Funeral Home and was working there at time of her death. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, bowling and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Husted of Blackwell; two daughters, Vicky Sullivan of Blackwell, and Shelley Husted of Blackwell; a son, Rob Husted and wife Stacey of Blackwell; a brother, Charles Inmon and wife Judy of Blackwell; five grandsons, Seth Sullivan of Atoka, Oklahoma, Sean Sullivan and wife Melody of Blackwell, Blake Husted, Braden Husted and Bode Husted all of Blackwell; and three great grandchildren, Gage Roundtree of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, Kayleah Sullivan of Marland, Oklahoma, and Sammi Sullivan of Blackwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James and Virgil Inmon; and two sisters, Wanda Phipps and Anna Terrell.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 16th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Steve Varner, Chris Fetters, Mickey Phillips, Terry Pameticky, Joey Culver, Mike McElyea and Jim Whittenburg. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be the grandchildren and great grandchildren of Bob and Carol Husted.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Susan G. Komen Foundation in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74361.
