Carl Richard Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, August 15, 2013, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 76 years.
Carl Richard Miller was born on November 11, 1936, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Carl Vincent and Margaret Pauline (Miner) Miller. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1957. Following his education he became a firefighter for the City of Blackwell and retired after twenty years of service. He also worked part-time at the Acme Foundry in Blackwell. He married Joyce Miller on June 27, 1970, in Blackwell. He was a member of the American Legion and served in the Oklahoma National Guard. He enjoyed crappy fishing, pheasant hunting in Kansas, and traveling to Las Vegas with family.
He is survived by a sister, Shirley Pehrson of Arvada, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob and Ed Miller; and a great nephew, GarinGlenny.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2013, in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Bookout of the First Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery with military rites performed by the American Legion.
Honorary casketbearers will be Todd Miller, Kevin Miller, Cody Glenny, Jordan Vaverka, Parker Miller and Brian Bufford.
