Byron Lee Constant of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday evening, April 4, 2013, in the AMG Specialty Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years.
Byron Lee Constant was born on August 8, 1932, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Charles Henry and Clella May (Wimer) Constant. He attended Blackwell Public Schools. He married Freda Colleen Madison on October 28, 1950 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and she preceded him in death on April 21, 1995. He was a member of the Blackwell First Baptist Church. He loved his animals and taking his grandchildren, whom they called "Pope", on horse drawn buggy rides. He also enjoyed doing ceramics in his ceramic shop and woodworking.
He is survived by two daughters, Wyvona McMartin of Blackwell and Jonita Constant of Blackwell; a son, Dorvin Constant and wife Paula of Blackwell; a sister, LoKiel Denney of Black Canyon, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Josh McMartin, Jared McMartin, Darrin McKimson, Anisa Barnes, Diana Constant, Leauna Constant and Bristole Constant; six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 8th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Hermansen of Oklahoma City officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Doug Hailings, Greg Hailings, Derry Paige, Jared Johnson, Cecil Stuever, Roger Barnes, David DeCosta and Galen Hailings.
A memorial in his honor has been established with Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation – Diabetes Research c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 West Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
