Derek Bret Hall of Nardin, Oklahoma, died Thursday afternoon, July 17, 2008, the result of a tractor accident west of Nardin at the age of 47 years.
Derek Bret Hall was born on November 8, 1960, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Harold Lee and Becky Kay (Shoemaker) Hall. He grew up in rural Nardin attending Nardin Schools before completing his education in the Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1979. He then furthered his education by attending Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa before transferring to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in agriculture education in 1984. He then returned to Kay County and began working for Max Hall Well Service. He married Tonya Kay Lanie on June 7, 1985, in Miami, Oklahoma. In 1987 he began his own farming operation near Nardin and was farming at the time of his death. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nardin and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his parents, Harold and Becky Hall of Nardin, Oklahoma; a daughter, Blair Kay Blay and husband Robbie of Ponca City, Oklahoma; a son, Dustin Bret Hall of Nardin, Oklahoma; a sister, Kelli Jo Hall of Ponca City, Oklahoma; a brother, Jody Wade Hall of Alpharetta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Kadon and Josh Blay; and his companion, Teena Robbins of Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Todd Lee Hall.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 22nd, in the First United Methodist Church in Nardin with the Rev. Robert Foos officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Honorary casketbearers will be Craig Hall, Heath Hall, Butch Hall, Tim Pitts, James Barnes, Chad Shoemaker and Kyle Shoemaker.
Casketbearers will be Darrel Shields, Scott Smith, Greg Hurst, Robert Kelle, Rick Hoemann and Warren Moore.
A memorial has been established for the Blackwell F.F.A. Chapter in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
