Billie Rae Martin of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died January 7, 2013, in the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 75 years.
Billie Rae Martin was born on December 27, 1937, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Albert Norman and Harriett A. (Millhollen) Parker. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated in 1956. She married Ronald Anderson and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker and was employed in clerical work. She later married Bernie Martin and they moved to Alaska to make their home for a short time before moving to Irving, Texas, where she worked in the office of a propane company. In 1974 they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and she worked for a local bank. In 1988 she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and worked for a travel agency. In 1993 she returned to Blackwell and began working for Southwest Cupid and assisted her husband in his trucking business. She later worked at Lowe's in Ponca City retiring in 2006. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed reading, sewing, various card games, golf and all her pets.
She is survived by a son, James Martin of Blackwell; three daughters, Sheri Kindrick of Port Naches, Texas, Ronna Rae Ballard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Becky Lynn Roundtree of Edmond, Oklahoma; a sister, Bonnie Tremble of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Donna.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Monday, January 14th in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Pam Cottrill officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Blackwell Animal Shelter in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
