Bessie June Muret of rural Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday afternoon, March 23, 2008, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital in Blackwell at the age of 82 years.
Bessie June Muret was born on October 13, 1925, in Nardin, Oklahoma, to Arthur and Juanita A. (Jones) Croft. As a young girl she moved with her family to Western Kansas before moving to Ponca City, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Ponca City High School in 1942. Following her education she worked for an optometrist and for Conoco in Ponca City. She married Wayne Franklin Muret on April 28, 1946, in Blackwell and they settled on a farm east of Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker and assisted with the dairy operation. Her husband preceded her in death on June 25, 1986, and she continued living on the farm. She was a member of the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and handcrafts, gardening, and canning and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed making and entering her jelly in the Kay County Free Fair each fall.
She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Muret of Ponca City, Oklahoma; three sons, DeWayne Muret and wife Gayle of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Dennis Muret and wife Shelley of Blackwell, and David Muret and wife Becky of Blackwell; a sister, JoAnn Guyer and husband Gene of Blackwell; eight grandchildren, Crissa Stricklin of Baytown, Texas, Sarah Muret of Bakersfield, California, Paul Muret of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jay Muret of Leedey, Oklahoma, Trevor Muret of Lubbock, Texas, Dan Muret of Edmond, Oklahoma, Brian Muret of Blackwell, and Kyle Muret of Blackwell; ten great grandchildren, Lauren Muret of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Holly and Jake Muret of Leedey, Oklahoma, Keely and Kiefer Starr of Blackwell, Michael and Taylor Stricklin of Baytown, Texas, Harlie and Taylen Muret of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Kendal and Tyler Muret of Blackwell; and five nieces, Connie Moya of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Gayle Cole of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Camille Sneath of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Evelyn Waggoner of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Glenda Pameticky of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Douglas Muret.
Graveside services and burial are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25th, in the Blackwell Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tara Foos officiating.
Honorary casketbearers are Paul Muret, Jay Muret, Trevor Muret, Dan Muret, Brian Muret and Kyle Muret.
A memorial has been established at the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
