Bertha Maxine Vaughn of Yukon, Oklahoma, died, Tuesday, February 26, 2013, in the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 81 years.
Bertha Maxine Vaughn was born on January 24, 1932, near Braman, Oklahoma, to Guy Willard and Anna (Pantenburg) Riley. She attended rural Kay County Schools before graduating from Braman High School in 1949. Following her education she married Olen Dean Vaughn on June 9, 1949, in Newkirk and began serving her family as a homemaker. In 1960 they moved to Drumright, Oklahoma, where her husband was employed in the oil and gas industry. Following his retirement from Atlantic Richfield in 1985, they moved to Ponca City to make their home. In May of 2006 they moved to Yukon to be near their family.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Olen Dean Vaughn of Yukon; a son, Lynn Vaughn and wife Jayna of Comanche, Oklahoma; a daughter, Patty Purvis and former son-in-law, Steven Purvis of El Reno, Oklahoma; a sister, Lila Meyers of Ponca City; grandchildren, Steven Purvis and wife Melissa and their children, Ashtyn, Rylan and Briley of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Jerrod Vaughn and wife Kelsey and their daughter, Alexus of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Whitney Vaughn and daughter, Brooklynn of Oklahoma City, Erin Lyle of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Josh Lawrence of Comanche, Oklahoma; a brother-in-law, James E. Vaughn of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2nd in the Braman Cemetery in Braman, Oklahoma, with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.
The grandsons and great grandsons of Bertha Vaughn will serve as honorary casketbearers.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Braman Cemetery Association in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
