Obituary

Arline Mae (Kreider) Roberts of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away July 19, 2012, in the Grace Living Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years.

Arline Mae (Kreider) Roberts was born on April 27, 1923, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Albert M. and Bessie Mae (Gardiner) Kreider. She attended schools in Newton, Massachusetts, graduating from Newton High School. She furthered her education by attending Laselle College.
During World War II, she volunteered with the American Red Cross and U.S.O. in Newton and Boston. During her volunteer service she met Bob W. Roberts and they married on June 23, 1946, in Newton, Massachusetts. Following his discharge from the United States Navy and their marriage they moved to Blackwell where they joined his family in Roberts Funeral Home. While in Blackwell she volunteered with the American Red Cross and organized a youth group which worked with nursing homes and blood drives. She served as Blood Drive Chairman for the Western Kay County Chapter for twelve years. She later became a disaster relief coordinator for the American Red Cross National Headquarters and for nineteen years served in this capacity. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class and served on various church committees. She also held membership in the Chapter AB of P.E.O. Sisterhood serving as the group's president and attending state and national conventions as a delegate. She also served on the board for the Blackwell Chamber of Commerce, Blackwell Country Club and the state YWCA Council. She enjoyed playing canasta, bridge, golf, attending musicals and stage plays and visiting the New England beaches to eat fresh seafood.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lynn Bibus of Venice, Florida; three sons, John Roberts of Andover, Massachusetts, Kim Roberts of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Bob Roberts of Midland, Texas; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Sudik, Eddie Roberts, Steven Roberts, Cary Roberts, Jamee Roberts, Sabrina Roberts and Nicole Roberts; and a great grandson, Logan Schultz.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, John.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 27th in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Pam Cottrill of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Honorary casketbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class and AB Chapter of P.E.O.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the American Red Cross Western Kay Chapter in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
