Archie Carlyle Sherrill was born on September 6, 1933, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Andrew Arthur and Leah (Hillyer) Sherrill. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools. He entered the United States Marine Corps in March of 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged in January of 1956. He then began working for the Sante Fe Railroad and lived in Galveston, Texas, California, Colorado, Chicago, Illinois, and Oklahoma. He married Bertha Fernadez in 1994 in McAllen, Texas, and they settled in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Chikaskia Lodge and the Topeka Scottish Rite. He also held membership in the Elk's Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Sherrill of Blackwell; five daughters, Renee of Chicago, Illinois, Lenita of Ennis, Texas, Dana of Burleson, Texas, Stephanie of Azle, Texas, and Cindy of California; and a son, Tommy Sherrill of Topeka, Kansas; one step-daughter, Sonya of Fort Worth, Texas; and one step-son, Dalton of Kansas; numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter; 1 brother; and one sister.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 29th in the Kiowa Cemetery in Kiowa, Kansas, with the Rev. Jose Monteil of Iglesia Baupista Emanuel in Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Kiowa Cemetery.
