Annabel Alice McKibben of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Tuesday morning, June 30, 2009, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 89 years.
Annabel Alice McKibben was born on July 19, 1919, in Warrensburg, Illinois, to David Franklin and Fay (Abston) Faith. She grew up in Warrensburg, attending Warrensburg Community High School, graduating in 1937. She then furthered her education by attending Brown Business College. On February 13, 1943, she married Robert E. Tague in Rantoul, Illinois, where she worked at the Air Force base when war was declared. Later she worked as an administrative assistant for Stetson China Company in Lincoln until the company closure; she then began working at Lehn and Fink.until her retirement in 1980. She married William R. "Russ" McKibben on October 2, 1963, in Lincoln, Illinois. While living in Lincoln , she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also volunteered at the Lincoln-Logan Food Pantry and the American Red Cross. In June of 2006, she moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, to live near her daughter Nancy. She was a member of the Blackwell First United Methodist Church and the Kum Dubl Sunday School Class. She loved music and played the piano for many occasions throughout her life. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Tague Adkisson and husband Larry of Collinsville, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Tennant Brigham and husband Dennis of Norman, Oklahoma, and Sara Tennant Hendricks and husband Clay of Owasso, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren, Alexander Brigham, Nicholas Brigham, Blake Brigham, Anna Kate Hendricks and Joshua Hendricks; and a sister, Frances C. Taylor of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russ; her parents; and a sister, Margaret Ryan.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 6th in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Larry Adkisson officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon in the Graceland Cemetery in Collinsville, Oklahoma.
Kum Dubl Sunday School Class will serve as honorary casketbearers.
