Anna Lee Rea Ganer (Granny Ann) celebrated her birthday into Heaven, when she went to be with Jesus, on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the age of 100 years, 9 months and 4 days.
Anna Lee was born July 24, 1911, to Thomas E. and Melvina (Highfill) Rea in Charity, MO. At two years of age, Ann's family, moved to Kiowa, KS by covered wagon, memories of which she shared with her 29 great-great grand-children. She attended schools in Kiowa, KS, Blackwell and Deer Creek, OK.
She married Arthur David Ganer, on August 18, 1928. They made their home in Deer Creek, OK, where they operated Ganer Oil Company. Anna Lee continued to live in Deer Creek, after Arts death, in February of 1951. Upon completing her GED through a Dale Carnegie Course, and graduating from Ponca City Beauty College in 1953, she owned and operated Ann's Salon. She then served as a state inspector of cosmetology, after completing her instructor's certificate from the Beech Beauty College. Anna Lee retired in 1982, at which time she continued to serve others through volunteering. She volunteered at the Ponca City Opportunity Center, Blackwell Nursing Home as a hair dresser for clients in need, and the Blackwell Museum. She loved to participate in Bible study and church functions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Harry Rea, Beryl Rea, Dearl Rea, Jim Rea, Wayne Rea, and Clifford Rea, sisters Chloe Rea George, Oleta Rea McNamara, and Madeline Rea, son Donald David Ganer, and one great grand-daughter Kolby June Goodman.
She is survived by her daughters Patty Ann (Ganer) Goff and husband Donald L. Goff, Jacklynn Birdie (Ganer) Steffen and husband Doyle G. Steffen, grand-children Kelly Goff, Kirk Goff, Krista (Goff) Perkins, Kim (Goff) White, King Goff, Mark Ganer, Julie (Ganer) Empson, Cathy (Ganer)Skidmore, Jill (Steffen) Buesing, Jan (Steffen) Blundell, June (Steffen) Shepherd and Jo (Steffen) Goodman, 34 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren.
The celebration of Granny Ann's life will be held, Tuesday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m., at the Nardin Methodist Church, with Pastor Robert Foos and Pastor Don Jones officiating. Internment will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Serving as casketbearers will be Mark Ganer, Tim Empson, Kelly Goff, Kirk Goff, King Goff, Paul Skidmore, Mike Perkins, Glen White, David Buesing, Scott Shepherd and Todd Goodman.
