Alta Polly Cofield of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday evening, December 19, 2008, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 85 years.
Alta Polly Cofield was born on April 28, 1923, in Zena, Oklahoma, to Wess and Edith (Wickett) Roberts. She grew up in the Zena area attending rural public schools. Following her education she served her family as a homemaker. In 1971 they moved to Blackwell and she continued serving in the home. In 1973 she began working as a certified nursing assistant at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home retiring in 1992. Following her retirement she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the Baptist church. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her dogs and cheering for the Atlanta Braves and Boston Celtics.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Wieland of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two sons, Ervin Allen of Powderly, Texas, and Joe Briggs of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Minuard, Milford, Noah and Manford Roberts; and five sisters, Sylvia and Margie Roberts, Mamymie Morrison, Maple Youngblood and Vinita Romine.
Following cremation there are no services planned.
