Allene Berline of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 in the Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years.
Allene Berline was born on January 31, 1924, in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, to Albert Leo and Hazel D. (Morgan) Stoner. As a young girl she grew up on an oil lease near Tonkawa, Oklahoma. She attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating from Blackwell High School in 1942. Following her education she began working for the Hermes Insurance Agency in Blackwell. She married Robert Lee Berline on August 25, 1945, Wellington, Kansas, and they settled on a farm west of Blackwell. She later began working for the gas company and in 1960 she began working as a bookkeeper for First National Bank in Blackwell. After thirty years of service she retired as an assistant cashier in 1990. Following retirement they enjoyed traveling to various parts of the country. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Harmony Sunday School Class in Blackwell. She also held membership in the Order of Eastern Star. She also enjoyed visiting with friends, dancing and family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Berline of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two daughters, Alicia Berline Pontius and husband Eldon of Cadiz, Kentucky, and Desma Berline Logsdon and husband David of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and three grandchildren, Heath Downs and wife Stephanie of Seattle, Washington, Hilary Penrod and husband Nic of Bixby, Oklahoma, and Hannah Downs of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Moore; and a brother, Bud Stoner.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6th in the First Christian Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Honorary casketbearers will be David Logsdon, Leonard Berline, Barry Patton, LeRoy Farabough, John Smith, Les Cartwright, Don Bevington and Don Merhoff. Casketbearers will be Bruce Dale, Doug Dale, Dennis Pearce, Eldon Pontius, Nic Penrod and Heath Downs.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the American Heart Association in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
