Obituary

Alicia Black of Guthrie, Oklahoma, died Monday, September 6, 2010, in the Logan County Medical Center in Guthrie, Oklahoma, at the age of 31 years.

Alicia Black was born on June 25, 1979, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is the daughter of Richard and Katrina Hicks. As an infant she moved with her family to Blackwell where she grew up and attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating from Blackwell High School in 1996. Following her education she moved to Woodward, Oklahoma, where she made her home at the OARC home. In 2008 she moved to the New Horizons Home in Guthrie where she lived at the time of her death. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed reading her Bible and babysitting in the church nursery. She also enjoyed helping other handicapped people with life.

She is survived by her parents, Richard and Katrina Hicks of Cheney, Kansas; grandparents, Betty Hicks of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Ed Black of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Ruby Black of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ashly McCoy of Logan, Utah, and Amy Mooring of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a brother, Kasey Hall of Blackwell, Oklahoma; uncles, Eddie Black of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Chris Black of Temucla, California; aunt, Yvonne Matthews and husband Jimmy of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and nephew, Jourdyn Mooring of Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 10th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Jimmy Matthews, James Matthews, Ripley McCoy, Jimmy Mooring, Eddie Black and Chris Black. Honorary casketbearers will be the residents of New Horizons.

A memorial has been established at the New Horizons Home in Guthrie in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
