David Daniel Barrows of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Blackwell Regional Hospital in Blackwell at the age of 76 years.
David Daniel Barrows was born on February 7, 1936, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was the son of William David and Mabel Lee (McCoy) Barrows. He grew up in Blackwell attending Newkirk and Blackwell Public Schools. After his education he began working for the City of Braman as an electrician. He later worked for the Blackwell Zinc Company, Turvey’s Packing House and in the oilfields and construction businesses. He married Jacqueline (Smith) Allen on August 10, 1996 in Commerce, Oklahoma, and they settled in Blackwell. He loved to fish, watch OU football, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Barrows of Blackwell; four daughters, Catherine Rozell North of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Janice Aliene Wilson of Meeker, Colorado, Carol Ann Cook of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Jessica Faye Stout of Blackwell, Oklahoma; five sons, Ronnie Lee Barrows of Fairview, Oklahoma, Jerry Daniel Evans of Newkirk, Oklahoma, and Charles Raymond Barrows of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Walter Scott Allen of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Terry Lynn Pendleton of Blackwell, Oklahoma; six step-daughters, Linda Joyce Hughes, Sharon Juanita Ellis, and Rhonda Gail White all of Hinton, Oklahoma, Holli Rolinda Brown of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Jillian Elaine Rogers of Woodward, Oklahoma, and Kathryn Irene Simons of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two step-sons, Cecil Edmond Pendleton Jr. of Hinton, Oklahoma, and James Odell Pendleton of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one sister, Loretha Watts; seventy three grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, William David Barrows, mother, Mabel Lee Woods; two step-sons, J.E. Pendleton Jr., and Roland Harley Allen Jr.; one sister, Wanda Bartosovsky; two brothers, William Houston “Bill” Barrows, and Charles Edward Barrows; and two grandchildren, Donna Kay Pendleton, and Malinda Mae Blenden.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the Victory Fellowship in Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Tom Howard of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma and Rev. Kelly Coffey of The First Assembly of God Church in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers are his grandsons, Cecil Weber, Matt Evans, Jerry Weber, Josh Evans, Jesse North, and David Blenden.
Honorary Casketbearers are Davie Brown, Richard Barrows, Timothy Evans, Jesse Barrows, Tren Barrows, and Loren Barrows.
A memorial has been established in his honor at the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
